Committee activities
1. Trading Reform Committee

(1) Manage progress of projects to study issued raised by department store study groups and consider establishment of new projects
(2) Examine measures to stimulate consumption in the "new normal"

2. Overseas Tourist Attraction Committee

(1) Publicize the revised tax exemption system and request additional revisions
(2) Research measures for inbound tourism toward the easing of entry restrictions for regular tourists 
(3) Efforts to raise awareness of the value of shopping tourism

3. Payment System Renovation and Systemization Promotion Committee

(1) Design customer referral plans in collaboration with collaboration members (credit card companies)
(2) Respond to the implementation guidelines of the Installment Sales Act and facilitate smooth operation of IC joint infrastructure
(3) Research on new methods of payment driven by changes in consumer behavior
(4) Efforts to strengthen and revitalize Tomonokai
(5) Consider invoice support for EDI standard (distribution BMS)

4. HR & Employment Committee

(1) Initiatives to promote the attractiveness of department stores as a workplace (in collaboration with the Advertisement Committee)
(2) Research activities from the perspective of securing and developing human resources (digital human resource development, job-based employment, customer harassment, health management, etc.)
(3) Compliance with labor laws and regulations (expansion of flexible work hour system, establishment of diverse full-time employee rules, etc.)
(4) Gather information on and request employment adjustment subsidies, industrial employment stabilization subsidies, etc.

5. Environmental & Social Contribution Committee

(1) Efforts to reach carbon neutrality by 2050 (compliance with the revisions to the Energy Conservation Law that take effect in April 2023)
(2) Promote efforts toward transition to a circular economy and implementation of the Plastic Circulation Law (support for the "3 R's & Renewable")
(3) Initiatives for various SDGs issues and promotion as an industry

6. Tax & Accounting Committee

(1) Examine and make requests with regard to corporate taxation and other measures that may increase the burden on member stores in FY 2023 tax reforms
(2) Compliance with corporate accounting systems (lease accounting standards)

7. Fair Trade Promotion Committee

(1) Support department stores in strengthening their fair trade compliance systems (compliance with the "trade fairness" aspect of the growth and distribution of "New Capitalism")
(2) Activities to promote awareness of fair trade rules

8. Food Safety Committee

(1) Activities relating to Geographical Indication (GI) products
(2) Develop food-related CSR activities
(3) Initiatives for food safety and security of food products

9. Risk Management Committee

(1) Flexible response to COVID-19
(2) Support for responses to abnormal weather- and earthquake-related disasters, etc.

10. Advertisement Committee

(1) Initiatives to promote the attractiveness of department stores as a workplace (in collaboration with the HR & Employment Committee)
(2) Research and promotion of new measures including utilizing digital technology and sustainable business (in collaboration with the Environmental & Social Contribution Committee and other committees)
(3) Awareness of department store safety and security measures, etc. (in collaboration with the Risk Management Committee)
(4) Introduce measures taken by companies in response to new demand trends and consumption environments
(5) Host seminar for advertising (PR) representatives

1. Education Project

(1) Managing the Customer Service Skills Exam (national qualifications)
(2) Implement web-based department store food safety advisor qualifications
(3) Spread awareness through Passport (educational booklets)
(4) Host department store "Randoseru" (school satchel) advisor certification seminars
(5) Host pharmaceutical training sessions
(6) Other educational projects

2. Association Advertisement Project

(1) Improve business value by using the Association website to spread project awareness
(2) Expand awareness of member store policies through the use of Department Store WORLD, etc.
(3) Distribute newsletters focusing on Association activity reports (monthly)
(4) Distribute latest statistics and other trends in the US retail industry (quarterly)
(5) Organize and review sales survey items

3. Joint Purchasing Project

(1) Manage joint purchasing projects
(2) Develop new items that meet the needs of member stores
(3) Information provision projects (introducing disaster/emergency response items, etc.)

4. Information Provision Project

(1) Understand and disseminate information about the actual circumstances surrounding e-business in the department store industry
(2) Plan advanced case studies and prospective industry strategy research seminars on DX (Digital Transformation) and other topics
(3) Organize seminars on overseas retailing and spread information on events, related materials, etc.
(4) Spread information on overseas event planning, overseas retail-related materials, etc.

5. Common Gift Certificates & Department Store Gift Cards

(1) Proper management of issuance/collection, measures for a variety of issues including rule revision
(2) Hold seminars to thoroughly enforce various handling rules
(3) Conduct surveys on refunds and discuss future actions
(4) Consider the future of gift certificate/gift card business

6. Drafting a Medium- to Long-Term Structural Reform Plan and Affairs Improvements

(1) Draft structural reform plans from a medium- to long-term perspective
(2) Improve meeting management efficiency
